Product of the Week: Strawberries

Nothing quite says summer like fresh purchased strawberries covered in whipped cream or baked into a pie!

You pay good money for their strawberries, so why buy something that was grown with poor labor practices and with really toxic and unsustainable farming techniques?

Labor Issue:

Strawberry pickers in Mexico and the USA pick berries for as much as 12 hours a day and earn a whopping $6 per day.

Toxic farming:

Strawberries are an absorptive fruit and therefore the pesticides, like the flavor are on the inside. The most toxic chemical is methyl bromide is widely used in conventional strawberry farming. It can cause cancer and reproductive problems.
